India plans to punish Pakistan by increasing water drawn from Chenab

NEW DELHI - India is considering plans to dramatically increase the water it draws from a major river that feeds Pakistani farms downstream, as part of retaliatory action for a deadly April attack on tourists that New Delhi blames on Islamabad, according to four people familiar with the matter. About 80% of Pakistani farms depend on the Indus system, as do nearly all hydropower projects serving the country of some 250 million.

NEW DELHI - The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said there was no radiation leak or release from any nuclear facility in Pakistan during that country's recent military conflict with India. "Based on information available to the IAEA, there has been no radiation leak or release from any nuclear facility in Pakistan," an IAEA spokesperson told PTI.

India to slap counter duties against US; notice sent to WTO

NEW DELHI - India is looking at levying import duties on some products made in the United States to counter Washington's tariffs on steel and aluminium products, a document submitted to the World Trade Organization shows. "The proposed suspension of concessions or other obligations takes the form of an increase in tariffs on selected products originating in the United States," the document dated May 12 said. It did not say what kind of products might be subjected to tariffs.
