There are reports in a section of the media that the kanjeevaram diva Rekha has been again approached for a role in Heeramandi. The speculation suggests, although Rekha is not interested, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is “in pursuit” of her nod to do a “special dance number” in the web series.

A source close to the filmmaker dismisses this new report as “someone’s figment of imagination.”

“The Bhansali production house has had no interaction with Rekhaji on Heeramandi or any other project,” informs the source, and adds, “Every now and then some media outlet decides on adding a caste member to Heeramandi without any rhyme or reason. Sanjay Leela Bhansali would love to work with Rekha. He finds her a very special actor. But she is not doing any special dance number in Heeramandi. She has not been asked to.”

Heeramandi's first look was revealed recently and the cast of this period drama includes Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Ali and Sharmin Segal.
