By Jatinder Singh Bedi
‘Kathiawadi King’ restaurant is a foodies’ destination. For those who relish indulging in world’s unique cuisines, this eatery is a must-visit. If Indian Cuisine is ethnic, ‘Kathiawadi King’ is super-ethnic.
Restaurant ‘Kathiawadi King’ is located at: 410 W Higgins Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60195. The menu is reasonably priced. It is affordable for every pocket. The restaurant has an amazing rustic ambience. The look and feel within the restaurant transports you out into the environs of Saurashtra, the region from where the cuisine has been picked.
The restaurant serves the most traditional delicacies from the Saurashtra Peninsula. This peninsula is located in the South West of India extending into the Arabian Sea, sided by the Gulf of Kambata and Gulf of Kutch. Its climate being arid and dry, little grows.
With such limited vegetation, locals have devised uniquely distinct and amazingly delectable cuisine. In Chicago, ‘Kathiawadi King’ is the only restaurant that serves this wonderful food line from the peninsular Gujarat.
Business partners Mr Nehal Patel and Ms Komal Patel run this creative food outlet. “Our unlimited Kathiawadi Thali is the most sought after from our extensive menu,” Says Ms Komal Patel of ‘Kathiawadi King’.
“From our menu, dishes like Kathiyawadi Dhokli, Sev Tameta, Rasawala Bateta, Kadhi, Rotlo or Rotli, Farsan, Chaas, and Lasan Chutney top the list of customer orders,” Komal Patel adds.
It serves children menu too!
A conversation with Mr Nehal reveals the intriguing facts about the cuisine and the region. He takes you around the pictorial gallery that depicts the rural environs of Saurathtra. The correlation of the region is mesmerizing. The restaurant needs to be visited to get the real feel and relish the culinary experience.
