Jatinder Bedi presides over IAA India I-Day Celebrations in Chicago

           CHICAGO - Indian American Association (IAA) of Chicago celebrated the 73rd India Independence Day on 30 August 2019. Jatinder Singh Bedi was the Chief Guest of the evening. While addressing the audience, Jatinder Bedi lauded the success of India’s democracy and called upon the NRIs to adopt and empower at least one fellow NRI as the tribute to the sacrifices that the freedom fighters have made during India’s freedom struggle. IAA launched Mohita Murali as Star Emcee.

 

           IAA’s Honorable Chief Guest of the event, Mr. Jatindra Singh Bedi, renowned Community Leader from Chicago and IAA Guest of Honor Ms. Vandana Jhingan, a TV Asia Representative and Hindi News , Ms. Raees Yawar commissioner of Streamwood, and Mr.  Jitendra “JD” Digwankar, also graced the occasion with their presence.

 

          Ms. Mohita Murali was introduced as the program Emcee for the event.  She captivated the audience and kept them engaged throughout the evening with her performance and her facilitation skills. Her talent was applauded by Chicago Media and also by the dignitaries who attended the event. “Mohita will enhance all major IAA events of Chicago in 2019 and 2020 including the next upcoming top most event of IAA which is the India Republic Day celebrations,” the IAA press release stated. 

 

           The program commenced with a warm welcome by Mohita on Behalf of the IAA association, followed by The American and Indian National Anthems. Our distinguished guest and IAA committee members participated in the Lamp Lighting Ceremony. IAA President Nawab Mir Hamid Ali Khan, Ms. Raees Yawar commissioner of Streamwood, Jitendra “JD” Digwankar, Mr. Jatinder Singh Bedi, and Ms. Vandana Jhingan opened the event with their inspiring words, speeches.

 

           Since the very beginning IAA has always honored and promoted the local and young talents. Last Year IAA had given a break to Prerana Mitta (IAA Youth Director) for Fashion Show. IAA encourages our culture and traditions. At this event, IAA congratulated a young newly married girl Ms. Sundas Khan, who chose arranged marriage as a path for her new beginning in life with her parent’s approval and consent. She was invited on Stage and received the blessings of audience. IAA wishes Sundas Khan and her family all the happiness and years ahead filled with lasting joy in this wonderful journey.

           IAA provided an opportunity for new singers and dancers to show case their talent.  The evening was filled with excellent performances and entertainment arranged by Kiran and Archana Mitta. Kameshwari Bulusu, Ms. Marry, Bhim Reddy and Ishaan Ahmed sang few songs. A grand buffet of best Hyderabadi delicious food was catered by Syed Sarwar Hussain.

 

           IAA Executive Committee President Nawab Mir Hamid Ali Khan, Vice President Kameshwari Bulusu, Kiran Mitta, Archana Mitta, Jatendra Singh Bedi, Raju Shah, Shahid Razvi (General Secretary) Fareed Sabiri (Treasurer), Directors Dr. Togaru John Yidyalankar, Ishaan Ahmed, Prerana Mitta (Youth director) were present at the event.
