South Korea's military said on Wednesday it had fired three precision air-to-ground missiles near the spot on the maritime border where a North Korean missile landed earlier in the day.
North Korea had fired more than 10 missiles.
South Korean military called the firing of missiles by North Korea "very rare and intolerable".
