Salil Mishra Elected Chairman of the AIA

CHICAGO – Ranking member of the AIA, Mr Salil Mishra has been elected the Chairman of AIA Illinois.
The AIA (Association of Indians In America) is premier NRI organization that has served the US based Indian community for past many decades. It has also spearheaded multiple advocacy and legislative initiatives that have strengthened the Indian community manifold.
Mr Salil Mishra is a high profile Banker from India’s most prestigious PO-stream of the State Bank of India. At the State Bank of India, Mr Salil Mishra climbed up the ladder to serve on multiple strategic appointments during sought-after postings. These included some foreign stints as well. To further enhance his career, he sidestepped to the Chicago-based Millennium Bank which is singularly revered as the ‘Crown Jewel of NRIs’ in the Midwestern United States. Since then, Mr Salil Mishra has been in the service of the Indian community through the AIA; as well as through the Orissa Society of Greater Chicago.
During his 20-year-long association with the AIA, Mr Salil Mishra has served on literally all the positions that AIA offers. He has been AIA’s President for two terms; Vice-President for two terms. He also has the distinction of serving AIA as its Member-at-Large. At the national level Mr Salil Mishra has served as AIA’s National Vice President for two terms. Besides, he has spearheaded several committees and fundraising drives. During all such initiatives his wife Dr Kanak Hota has been working with him step-in-step.
His Chairmanship has attracted rich compliments and appreciations from the Indian Leaders. Prominent amongst them, Mr Om Dhingra, describes Salil Mishra’s election as a defining moment for the AIA. Speaking to the Hello NRI, Mr Om Dhingra says that “energetic Mr Salil Mishra is an experienced visionary leader, and has a far-reaching blueprint for the furtherance of AIA’s community endeavours.”
President of the Indian American Business Council, Mr Ajit Singh says, “Salil Mishra is a high profile corporate leader and at the same time the man-of-masses.” Mr Ajit Singh adds, “His election as the Chairman shall open the welcome-doors for admittance of Corporate membership.” Mr Ajit Singh applauded Mr Salil Mishra’s past contributions to the AIA and to a large number of NRIs here.
At the election meeting senior member of the AIA, Mr Santosh Pandey was inducted to the AIA Board of Trustees. He fills in the vacancy that Late Dr Ghanshyam Pandey’s demise created.
