POLICE ASSURES STINGENT SECURITY UMBRELLA ON DEVON AVE

CHICAGO- Police Commander has announced stringent police security umbrella around Devon Avenue in view of the repeated armed robberies and crime activities there. Police Commander Joseph Brennan stated this at the special Town Hall meeting that Noor Yaqoob organized at the Usmania Restaurant on Devon Ave.
A large number of Devon businessmen attended. Ward Alderman Debra Silverstein also attended. The accelerated frequency of crime incidents on Devon Avenue has cause alarm amongst the Devon Community and has adversely affected the inflow of visitors.
The merchants have started looking at alternate means to secure their wellbeing and businesses. For the benefit of the Devon Merchants, prominent businessman Mr Sajjad has even organized “Conceal And Carry License” classes for carrying personal weapons. Another businessman Ansari, narrated to Police Commander how he was held hostage on Devon and robbed with a loaded gun placed on his head.
Referring to past fortnight’s armed robbery at Devon-located Bawarchi Restaurant, Commander Brennan described the crime video as “disturbing.” He said that the burglars involved are not from Devon area. The police is in process of the identifying the robbers. He added that the events are so fast and quick that it becomes difficult to investigate in short time. The individuals involved are not from this area and are constantly traveling. This makes it difficult to nab them.

Businesses on Devon close late night. At that late hours, their cash registers make the businessmen vulnerable to the robbers. Police should increase police pickets on Devon Ave." He also asked for increase in police patrolling especially during 10 pm to 2 am.
Usmania Restaurant’s Noor Yaqoob represented Devon Business Community before the Police Commander at the Town Hall Meeting. Addressing the Commander and the Alderman, Noor Yaqoob said: “The crime incidents on Devon Avenue are getting more and more frequent.” This is making Devon a dreadful area for people to visit, Yaqoob stressed.
Yaqoob apprised the police Commander that businesses on Devon close late night. At that late hours, their cash registers make the businessmen vulnerable to the robbers. Yaqoob asked Commander Joseph Brennan to increase police pickets on Devon Ave. He also asked for increase in police patrolling especially during 10 pm to 2 am.
Yaqoob also suggested that some scarecrow police cars with their lights blinking will also bring confidence amongst the businesses as well as the visitors alike.
In response Commander Joseph Brennan assured that he shall put in all his efforts to re-instil confidence in the area. He stated that despite over commitments of his police force, he shall readjust the duties to give added coverage to Devon Avenue.
