Tender process of 340 clusters for transportation of wheat finalised, remaining to be completed shortly

CHANDIGARH: In a bid to ensure smooth and seamless lifting of Wheat during current Rabi Marketing Season, the Punjab Government today finalised the tendering process of 340 clusters out of total 413 in the state for its transportation.

Disclosing this here, a spokesperson of the Food and Civil Supplies Department said that 100 percent tenders had been finalised for the clusters in 11 districts namely Amritsar, Barnala, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Muktsar, Mohali, Mansa, Pathankot, Rupnagar and SBS Nagar. He said that the State was fully geared to accomplish this gigantic task of wheat lifting despite boycott by various truck unions across the state.

The Spokesperson said that the Chief Minister had already given detailed directions to the Civil and Police officials to ensure hassle free procurement and lifting of wheat. The field officers have been specifically asked to comply with these instructions meticulously.

Elaborating on procurement preparedness, the spokesperson said that all requisite arrangements had been made in all the Mandis besides ensuring availability of basic amenities for the facilitation of farmers. Timely procurement, payment to farmers and lifting would be ensured at all costs and directions in this regard had already been communicated to all procurement agencies and other stake holders, the spokesperson added.
