BJP squarely responsible for session washout: Jakhar

April 07, 2018 09:14 PM

CHANDIGARH:  Ridiculing the dharna staged by the ruling NDA allies outside the parliament, Punjab Congress president and Gurdaspur MP, SunilJakhar today said that the BJP was squarely responsible for the complete washout of the session as it did not have the courage to face the opposition challenge about its complete failure on all fronts.

Pointing out that it was unprecedented that the ruling party staged a protest dharna,Jakhar, remarked, “apparently having realised that their countdown had begun and they were on the way out, the NDA allies had started rehearsing for the role of opposition that they were certain to assume in 2019”.

The Punjab Congress president said, the BJP led NDA government had no answers on the issue of farmers’ plight, Nirav Modi scam, Raffael deal, the atrocities on the Dalits and other failures during its tenure.

“As they wanted to run away from the debate, the NDA allies engineered total disruption in the parliament so that they were saved the disgrace of getting exposed”, he remarked, while adding that the complete onus of managing the smooth functioning of the parliament is always on the government.

The Gurdaspur MP pointed out, Punjab had set an example for the debt waiver of farmers by waiving off loans up to Rs 2 lakhs which no other state has done. “If the Congress can do it in Punjab, what stops the BJP government to do it at the centre”, he asked.

Asserting that it was totally absurd and bizarre on part of the government to stage a dharna,Jakhar, said, this does not exonerate it of its umpteen sins of omission and commission.
